The VERY last camp before the Jamboree!
Day 1:
My step dad Bob took myself and Dan another boy from the island going to the Jamboree, he's in Admiral too, to camp. We got a little bit lost as usual but that’s all the fun! It was exactly what they said it was, a green field. We had to use porta-loos. Nice. As group leader I had to bring food for Saturday night’s dinner. But that night it was just catch up sort out some last minute details. We practised and developed our entertainment piece. I won’t tell you what it is just in case there are other scouts out there reading this blog who might ‘borrow’ it. So yeah we did that and made some good decisions on what things the group was going to buy for our unit. It’s gonna be good. We had a campfire made by Mummy and we sat round that just chilling and catching up with the gossip. We went to bed quite early that night as we had a busy day the next day.
Day 2:
I was one of the first up and I helped Shef cook the breakfast that morning. Lisa and Spartacus helped too. After breakfast we practised our entertainment again and got feed back from the groups we were put into last camp. After that it was really just a circuit of activities and working on the gate way. Last camp I was a little bit bored so I designed a flag just as like a doodle. I didn’t think it would kick off but it did. I was asked to make the proper flag. Also if I had time I was asked to make an even bigger one to put on the side of our dinning shelter at the Jamboree so everyone would know who we are. I had enough trouble drawing the normal flag! It was fun though. We had lunch in the middle of this. There was also circus skills going on and Nookie got really annoyed at She'f and myself as we got the plate to spin before he did, and he'd been trying longer. Oops! I finished the drawing part of making the flag and then it was time to start dinner. We had: starters chicken noodle soup, Main Meal we had pasta in a chicken carbonara sauce and for Dessert we had three different flavours of angel delight with normal and white chocolate malteasers and chocolate chips. After a very long cleanup session we sat round another campfire and played some interesting games. Anyone from Admirals that was there would know what I’m talking about. Teehee. Time for bed children.
Day 3:
Now I was awoken to the sound of Velcro being pull apart and Shef saying ‘Sam your groups meant to be doing breakfast this morning’ I was like what? No-one told me. The ‘fun’ I had trying to find everyone was immense. I knew where Mummy and Laura were but that was it. No one could find Luke, he seemed to have disappeared. Never, ever cook breakfast two mornings in a row.
Today was rather a slow day to begin with. Spartacus Lisa and I started to paint the flag and others were painting the top bit of the gateway. Others I think were playing games and sunbathing. Like always. We had lunch and in the afternoon we had a great big mud slide! OMG! We got covered in it, it was hilarious, and best of all we were being filmed! So great!
After that we got cleaned up and started to pack everything away. We were eating all the food that people just didn’t want to take home. Homeward bound I suppose. I just couldn’t believe this was the last camp until the Jamboree. I don’t like it. I didn’t want to go home. Again.
